About Us
The Hippie Zoo started as a home full of love and scales. We took in one rescue that we just couldn't say no too, and then a few more after that. Before we knew it our home became a safe haven for the scaly and misunderstood.
We're not a big operation (yet), but we're working toward becoming a nonprofit and growing this little community. We believe every animal deserves to feel safe, wanted, and loved...even the weird ones.
Our Mission

We take in the reptiles that have been neglected, surrendered, or forgotten. Every animal deserves a second chance, no matter how crusty or spicy they show up.

Once they're healed and ready, we find them homes that actually FIT...not just anyone with a tank and heat lamp. We make sure every baby goes to someone who understands their needs and is in it for the long haul.

Knowledge is power! We believe way fewer reptiles would need rescuing if people had the right info from the start. We're here to help you learn, grow, and over all be better reptile parents.
Meet the Team
Hey there! We’re Kira and Devin, the animal loving weirdos that accidentally started a reptile rescue.
I'm Kira, the one that started it all and the brain behind the operation. I can't resist a baby in need! I handle the feeding schedules, messy shed removals, and deep research on proper care from tank sizes to substrate to feeding. The education never ends!
Devin's my right hand man! He didn’t exactly plan on building a zoo in our living room when he agreed to that first snake… but here he is hauling tanks, driving to pick up rescues, and helping me care for these creatures. He's the muscle to my madness, and somehow still encourages the addiction with “what’s one more?”
Together we run our little zoo with love, stubbornness, and way too many bugs.
Hi!! We’re Sarah and Mat.
We’re a reptile-loving duo behind a small home zoo of leopard geckos and ball pythons—and now, proud board members of The Hippie Zoo! When we’re not obsessing over morphs or rearranging enclosures at 2am “to make it just right,” we’re on a mission to give reptiles the love and respect they deserve. We have a soft spot for the misunderstood and the unloved, and we’re deeply devoted to providing top-notch care—not just for our own animals, but for every cold-blooded creature that crosses our path.
Education is a huge part of what drives us: we believe that with the right knowledge, anyone can learn to respect and appreciate the reptiles and amphibians around us, both wild and domesticated. We’re here to help break the stigma and fear behind these beautiful little creatures. Whether it’s guiding new keepers or helping rehab surrendered pets, we’re here to advocate, support, and slither alongside the rescue every step of the way.
